Parliament has given various powers to Parish Councils.  A key role is to represent the interests of their local community, e.g. by commenting on planning applications and to lobby other authorities on matters affecting their parish.  They also have powers relating to:

The Parish Councillors for Ince Blundell are:

Mr Michael Ashton, Mr. Frank Kerrigan, Mr Michael Mansour, Mr. Robert Waugh and

The Clerk to the Parish Council is Mr Ian Cowell.

 

This year the Parish Council has seen a few changes. Angela Diamond Morrison stepped down as the Chairperson and William Ashton also left the Council. In May following the local elections Roger Jenkins took on the role as Chairman and in September Frank Kerrigan and Michael Mansour were coopted onto the Council. Below is some of the things the PC has been doing this year.

Parish Council backing of Village in Bloom, Christmas Tree light switch on and of the Local History Group.

Helping to set up a residents committee for the maintenance of the unadopted part of Victoria Road.

Also River Alt flood defense - The PC has been actively involved on consultation process to back the option for storage areas at Lunt as opposed to the flooding of fields in Ince Blundell. (Environment Agency)

Liason with Scottish Power/Manweb on recurring power cuts.

Liason with Mersey Travel and Arriva on the state of the bus service to the Village.

Parish Council backing of Home Watch Scheme.

Usually a representative from the local Police attends the Parish Council meetings and gives a comprehensive report on any criminal activities in and around Ince Blundell.

The Parish Council has raised awareness of dog fouling in the village and new signs have been put up.
